In the Wild Map

There are excellent information offices in the main cities, information kiosks in smaller towns along with Department of Conservation Offices or google www.doc.govt.nz  where you will see maps, updated route information etc.  At the DOC offices there are displays and staff to assist you discovering the highlights in your chosen area.

If you are planning to visit any of the mountain areas make allowances in your itinerary for weather conditions which may prevent access on your designated day. Come well prepared with suitable clothing and sturdy footwear as conditions can change rapidly in the mountains.  Sun, rain, snow and biting cold wind all in one day is possible. Never go unprepared.
